LAKE WEED & ALGAE REMOVAL

The answer to the problem is to manually remove them by cutting, raking, netting and placing them onto the shoreline. Then, they must be loaded into tubs or wheelbarrows or bagged and then moved up to the road where they are loaded onto a trailer. Now they have to be hauled to an area where they must be raked off by hand and the trailer must be thoroughly cleaned. One more thing, before you can do all of this, you must get a permit from the TPWD and LCRA because these are invasive species.

If this sounds like a whole lot of backbreaking work, that’s because it is. Some homeowners, and from what we’ve heard, contractors try to skip most of this hard work by just cutting the plants and letting them drift away. That is literally the worst thing they can do and is extremely irresponsible and disrespectful to their neighbors on the lake. It will only spread the problem elsewhere because every fragment that is cut and floats away will grow into a plant.

This past year there were several companies doing this type of work on the lake. Some did a good job and were reputable but many were not and some homeowners got ripped off. Hearing this and seeing all of the recent growth of lake weeds and algae on the lakes, we knew we had to do something. Our solution is to follow all of the steps listed above but to do it with specialized equipment and trained crews so we added a program to do just that and if we do it, it will be done right.

Aquatic harvesting boats will quickly cut, rake and load most of the mass of plants into a tender boat that will take it to shore. There it will be loaded by equipment into trailers that will haul it to an approved dump site and then the trailer will be properly cleaned before returning to the lake. While this is happening, trained crews will be manually cleaning out all of the plants in the boat slips, under jet ski lifts and along the shoreline and hauling it away. When we’re finished, the average homeowner will have 100% access to their lakefront and it will only have taken a few hours. As a bonus, because this process is so efficient, it will cost less than if it were all done manually.

NUISANCE AQUATIC PLANTS RESTRICT USE OF THE LAKE

Thick masses of lake weeds & algae prevent your guests from swimming and fishing and also clog boat props and watercraft water intakes, often causing hundreds to thousands in damages.

EXCESSIVE LAKE WEED & ALGAE IS HARD TO TREAT

Dense growth, sometimes down to 15’ deep, is difficult to treat because the products we use can’t kill enough of the plant at one time and it grows back too quickly.

FLOAT IN PLANTS & ALGAE ARE ANOTHER PROBLEM

Floating weed mats that come and go with the wind and current, aren’t affected by our treatments. We kill what’s actually rooted in your area. They do restrict access to the water though & we clean them up.

SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT & TRAINED CREWS REMOVE THE PROBLEM

Our removal program is thorough, we cut, rake, net, load & haul the weeds away. We also follow the rules, get the permits, dump in approved areas & work hard not to spread the problem.

LICENSED, INSURED AND EXPERIENCED

After a decade of dealing with these problems, no one knows more about it than we do. Fly by night outfits that don’t respect the lake, and those who live on it, aren’t part of the solution, they’re the problem. Go with the professionals.
