LAKE MUCK REDUCTION PROGRAM

First, it reduces the depth of the lake by slowly building up until there is as much as several feet on the bottom. The second reason it’s bad is because it’s full of nutrients like nitrates and phosphates that are released when plants decompose. These nutrients feed the unwanted vegetation in your lake, especially algae, that causes problems with swimming and fishing in the summer. When those aquatic plants die, they repeat the process and add to the problem.

Reducing this organic muck helps break this cycle and saves time and money spent on vegetation control. We apply all natural, beneficial bacteria on a regular monthly schedule during the warm months of the year to slowly reduce the muck, usually from 6 to 12 inches a year. This process does take time though. The muck wasn’t deposited overnight and it won’t be gone that way either. It typically takes 2-3 years to get down to the bottom because of all the material that’s deposited each year.

LAKE MUCK IS GROSS!

Muck, sludge, or scientifically 'detritus' is the soft, pudding like goo on the bottom of the lake that smells like rotten eggs when you step in it.

CAUSES EXCESSIVE ALGAE AND LAKEWEED GROWTH

It is organic matter made up of decomposing leaves, grass clippings, aquatic plants, animal waste and dead aquatic life that causes other nuisance plants to grow in the lake as it rots.

WE TREAT WITH BENEFICIAL BACTERIA

We apply all natural, beneficial bacteria pellets during the warm months of year to accelerate the decomposition of these organics and deprive other plants of it’s nutrients.

START NOW – IT WORKS SLOWLY

Average reduction is 6 to 12 inches of muck per year. It took time to get there and it will take time to get rid of it, just like a diet
